Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health

Lancaster General Hospital’s main entrance was overgrown and in need of a refresh. We opened up visibility of the main entry and framed the fountain with colorful plantings. This project was developed in collaboration with Lancaster General Health’s maintenance group with an emphasis of reasonable maintenance requirements and four seasons of visual interest.

Hanson Square

Hanson Square is a South Philadelphia residential community developed in the late 1970s. The development is made up of townhomes centered on what was once a magical midblock commons area. Over the decades this courtyard has kept much of its charm, but the materials have decayed. Working in collaboration with David Brothers Landscaping and Wayne Lee Junior, we are developing masterplan to revitalize the space to its former glory.

Wissahickon Waterfowl Preserve

Wissahickon Trails sought to make their Waterfowl Preserve more accessible to visitors of limited mobility. The existing topography made it difficult to see the water behind the tall natural vegetation, particularly for guests using wheelchairs. Working in collaboration with Deck’s Landscaping, we developed a viewing platform to solve this problem. A subtle mound was incorporated into the landscape with an accessible pathway, seating areas, and signage.

Highline Park

Highline Park is a planned extension of the landscape at 3025 JFK Boulevard. This space serves as a pocket park connecting the site to Schuylkill Yards and 30th Street Station.

CSC Station

CSC Station is a coworking space adjacent to the Wilmington train station. We’ve worked to soften the outdoor space by incorporating functional seating and using large planters with four-season interest plantings.

CSC Headquarters

Jesse Forrester managed this project as part of a team at Jonathan Alderson Landscape Architects.

CSC was building a new headquarters building on the outskirts of Wilmington, Delaware. Working with Philly-based architecture and engineering firm NORR, we developed a landscape that functions as an outdoor extension of the building. The project features stormwater collection and reuse and native plantings.

The Block

Jesse Forrester managed this project as part of a team at Jonathan Alderson Landscape Architects.

Callahan Ward was developing a multifamily residence in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood. Interface Studio Architects had designed a building with an outdoor common area on the roof above ground floor commercial space. We collaborated with ISA to define multiple outdoor rooms defined by raised planters and paving materials.

Pivot Park

This project was managed by Jesse Forrester as part of a team at Jonathan Alderson Landscape Architects.

This park was envisioned by Wexford Science & Technology as the gateway to UCity Square, a new mixed-use district in West Philadelphia. The site was previously a parking garage, interrupting 37th Street and isolating the Powelton Village neighborhood from University City. This park and the restored stretch of 37th Street help to knit these neighborhoods back together while serving as a public node at the center of the newly developed concentration of medical research and academic spaces.

Ambler Yards

Jesse Forrester managed this project as part of a team at Jonathan Alderson Landscape Architects.

Station Partner’s, a local developer, sought to transform a dilapidated industrial site into a bustling, multi-use office park. An incongruous mixture of building types, flooding issues, and industrial contamination all presented major challenges. Roads and pathways were reorganized and native plantings tied the site back together while ISA reinvented the buildings. The result maintains the historic and quirky character of the site and has become a vital public space.
